Spooky friends,
So Substack has a Nazi problem. And we’re pulling the plug.
A lot has been written about Substack’s, ah, subpar response to the community when it comes to platforming hate speech, and there’s nothing we can offer to that conversation that hasn’t already been said. It’s shitty, the end.
But over the weekend, Donato and I decided on a new course of action, and we think it’s one our community will enjoy. Starting… now, really, our newsletter is moving to Patreon. We’ve actually already published the newsletter for December 22 over there.
So what’s changing? Less than you’d expect!
Our newsletter is still free.
You can subscribe to our newsletter by becoming a free member.
Click Join for free.
If you do not have a Patreon account, you will be prompted to enter your email address, password, and name, but no other information is required at signup.
As a free member, you will receive email notifications of our newsletters as well as any other updates or content we want to share with the full Certified Forgotten community. And if you are already a supporter on Patreon, you will now get our newsletter and your backer benefits in one platform instead of two.
Everyone wins? Everyone wins.
We hope you’ll consider joining us on Patreon for weekly updates — and if you really, really like what you see, we’ve made it easier for you to make the leap from a free member to a paid subscriber.
But let’s be perfectly clear: the newsletter is forever-free, and there is no obligation to do anything other than read — and maybe share the occasional article on social media. As always, your support — of any kind — means the world to us, and we’re grateful that you continue to look to Certified Forgotten for some of the best horror essays on the internet.
So long, Substack. It’s been real, it’s been fun, but it hasn’t been real fun.
